How does prayer work? What do I have to say, or how long do I need to pray so that God can answer my prayers? Jesus told the parable of the persistent widow to help us understand that God is not like the hard-hearted judge. God cares about our situation and the injustices we face. Yet, He is also interested in seeing us change and mature in our understanding of Him. Prayer is more than a transactional act. God draws us into the bigger picture when we press into persistent prayer without focussing on our own agenda and how we would like the solutions to come about.
