Based on a true story. Sheila’s life is about as good as it can get: She has just been promoted in the Air Force, and her daughter, Janaia, is about to go to college. Sheila’s good fortune all changes, though, when she is diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer. Having lost her mother to cancer, Sheila refuses to give in to the disease. As she starts her treatment, Sheila quickly learns that there is inequity in cancer treatment for people of colour; so, she takes it upon herself to start support groups that encourage people of colour to insist on more advanced treatment options and clinical trials. Along the way, Sheila turns to her father, Dillard and best friend, Adriene for emotional support and even finds true love before later founding an advocacy group to support and empower Black people diagnosed with cancer.
