Inspired by actual events, Fly Away Home tells the heartwarming story of a single father, Thomas Alden (Jeff Daniels), who is reunited with his daughter, Amy (Anna Paquin), after a nine-year separation. Grieving over the loss of her mother, thirteen-year-old Amy finds solace in a nest of abandoned goose eggs she discovers on her the farm. When Amy nurtures the orphaned goslings to maturity, Thomas realises that he and his daughter must teach them how to fly, if the geese are to survive and migrate south for the winter. Along the way, the airborne adventurers overcome a series of obstacles to get the geese to their winter home. And Amy and Thomas find the relationship they thought they'd never know.
