Indira Stewart was born in Tonga and raised in New Zealand. Her father’s family are from Tatakamotonga in the village Mu’a and her mother’s Fijian side from Kadavu and the village of Tu’anuku in Vava’u, Tonga. Stewart started out as a musician and was runner-up on the third season of New Zealand Idol back in 2006.
She later retrained as a journalist, and became the first Pacific Islander to present a weekday show at RNZ when First Up launched in May last year. Indira has now moved on to join the Breakfast team on TV 1and joins us on the line to share her story and experience.
