Many who come to know Jesus face scepticism and cynicism from friends, family or colleagues. Jesus faced a similar situation when he returned to Nazareth and began teaching in the synagogue. At first, the people were amazed by his words, but soon they questioned his authority, saying, "Isn't this Joseph's son?" Jesus then reminded them that prophets are often rejected in their hometowns. People close to or familiar with those whose lives get turned around dramatically by God sometimes struggle to understand what happened.
